While wildfires and hurricanes always land at the top of headlines in the news every day, floods are a serious issue that also needs to be addressed. In the USA, 98% of all states have experienced at least one flooding event. This past decade, the many floods throughout the years have accounted for $155 billion worth of damage. Furthermore, due to the ever-changing climate, these floods are expected to increase and may lead to even more financial loss. Scientists have stated that due to climate change, stronger and larger hurricanes are forming and kicking up storm surges at sea, which also increases the chance of extreme rainfall events that are usually the cause of the flooding.

Commercial wildlife markets are centers full of smuggled animals that are crammed together in tight spaces for the purpose of selling. These markets are not only detrimental to wildlife populations, but also a perfect breeding ground for disease and new pandemics that transfer from animals to humans. The illegally captured animals like pangolins, for example, are kept in appalling conditions, left in cramped cages where feces, saliva, and blood travel easily. Not only are these centers unethical, but they also threaten to prolong this pandemic and potentially transfer new diseases from animals to people. To shut down commercial wildlife markets, consider signing this petition.
